The Challenges of a Changing World

ASC 2007, University of Southampton, UK
12-14 September

The survey-based research environment is changing rapidly. Methodology and technology are having to evolve equally fast in order to meet such challenges as greater complexity, and harder to reach populations at the upstream end of the survey process, alongside demands for new ways to combine and present data and make it more accessible, downstream.

This, our fifth international conference, presented a unique cross-section of the responses that over forty expert researchers and practitioners are making to these challenges around the world and across the boundaries of academic, state, commercial and non-profit sectors.

Cornerstone to the event were keynote addresses from four opinion leaders in the field: Mick Couper, Karen Dunnell, Denise Lievesley and Malcolm Rigg.

"We have some exciting papers on innovative techniques, new approaches to dealing with respondents, panels and all parts of the interview process."
- Mike Trotman, head of the ASC conference programme team

"There is no better place to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in survey methodology and technology, get to understand the practicalities of making changes, and anticipate what is round the next turn than at ASC 2007."
- Tim Macer, head of ASC event organisation team
